Knysna and surroundings
Knysna is located in the district of Eden, in the heart of the Garden Route in the Western Cape Province in South Africa, and it really is the “Garden of Eden” .
Knysna, referred to as the jewels of the Garden Route, is blessed with a natural beauty that is hard to find anywhere else in the world. The town is situated on the beautiful Knysna lagoon which is fed by the Knysna river and flows into the Indian Ocean between 2 massive rock formations, commonly referred to as “The Heads” The surroundings include a lake area with multiple larger lakes, the Knysna forest and the Outeniqua mountains in the background. This in combination with one the most moderate climates in the world and about 300 sunny days makes it a dream location all year around. The diverse vegetation (including the very special Fynbos – which only exist in this part of the country) makes it a very unique place as it provides visual beauty, natural scents and attracts a large amount of wild and bird life. The town has a relaxed feel to it while still offering everything one can think off in an environment that could be described as a mix of the best of Europe and Africa. Knysna is also very good to explore on food as many parts of the town, including the city center, waterfront, Thesen Island are located on the edge of the lagoon with all its restaurants and shops.

For Golfers, it is an absolute paradise as there are three top rated golf courses in Knysna (Pezula Golf Estate, Simola Golf Estate, Knysna Golf Club) and another 7 spectacular courses just within one hour drive, in either Plettenberg Bay (Plettenberg counrty club, Goose valley) or in the George area (Fancourt with 3 courses, Oubaii Golf estate, George golf course).
